Is the stock market open on Juneteenth?
Stock Market · Juneteenth
Closed
No — the stock market is closed on Juneteenth.
The exchanges added Juneteenth to their holiday calendars after it became a federal holiday in 2021 — too late to close that first year. Since then NYSE and Nasdaq have closed for June 19, and the bond market closes with them.
When June 19 falls on a Saturday, the market closes the preceding Friday; when it falls on a Sunday, it closes the following Monday. Banks handle that weekend shift differently, so the two calendars can point at different days.
