There is no national school calendar. Each district sets its own — the state fixes a minimum number of instructional days, and the local school board decides which days those are. So this page describes a pattern, not a rule: on a handful of holidays nearly every district in the country is closed, on a few the country genuinely splits, and the school board's vote last spring is what settles it for your kids.
The sign above answers for today, and the table below is the full year — both cover the federal holidays only. Districts also close for things no national page can track: teacher in-service days, parent conferences, a snow day that pushes a make-up day into a break months later. Your district's calendar is the final word, and it's the one place all of that shows up.
School calendars are set district by district — this page covers the federal holidays most districts observe.
