Is the DMV open today in Michigan?
In Michigan, driver licensing is handled by the Secretary of State branch offices. Its offices close on the state's holiday schedule below — and on weekends. If today isn't one of those, offices run normal business hours.
Dates come from the State of Michigan's own holiday page, which lists the 2026 closing days, and the Secretary of State says every branch office is closed on state holidays.
Michigan gives its workers Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and the Friday after Thanksgiving off, so branches are closed those days too.
July 4 falls on a Saturday in 2026, so branches close Friday, July 3. Michigan does not close for Columbus Day.
